
Students: Contemporary & Popular Music![]() The Contemporary and Popular Department works with schools and communities throughout the County, offering lessons in music technology, DJ’ing and band development. For further details of specific courses see below. We offer comprehensive bundles of equipment which are available to hire with full guidance and support. NuTechNu Tech was a project that placed 10 computer music workstations in primary schools in Warwickshire. Most of these were at schools where children would otherwise have extremely limited opportunities to make music using IT. More... Topic ProjectsWe can deliver short projects around specific topics or themes from the curriculum such as “Forces” or “The Water Cycle”, “Light and Shadow” etc. These projects will involve the whole class in an exciting exploration of music technology and composition, drawing upon work they have already done in the classroom. Full Day workshop: £275 Radio DramasThis unique form of storytelling allows the class to explore scripts and dialogue, performance, microphone technique, sound effects and to compose original music to give atmosphere to the piece. New plays have been created using the Second World War and adaptations of Shakespeare as staring points. The price includes script development and music composition as well as the recording on CD. Full day workshop, editing time and delivery of 30 CD’s. £400 Band DevelopmentIf there are young people in your school already playing guitar, bass, drums, keyboards etc we can help them form bands capable of performing in any situation. We will help them choose repertoire, learn to rehearse effectively and to perform as a tight ensemble. From: £28.50/hour DJ WorkshopsWe can offer training in all skills associated with DJ’ing including flyer design, promotion and best gig practice. From: £28.50/hour IT Music SkillsWe can provide IT support for your staff in using IT in the delivery of music. WE can offer advice on the acquisition of equipment, both software and hardware. From: £28.50/hour All of these sessions can be tailored to meet the requirements of individual classes, schools or community groups. Anything to do with music technology, keyboards, computers for music, recording equipment, sitting and connection of equipment and MIDI can be accommodated. The Contemporary and Popular Music Dept can deliver or assist in the delivery of GCSE, “AS” and “A2” Level BTEC ND courses in Music Technology. The department has facilities to record, mix, master and duplicate CD’s of performances (ensembles, Christmas concert, school choir, orchestra, pop/rock).
